The following rules help guide everyone toward that goal. By posting on the California Agave Council Forum, you agree to be governed by these rules.We hope you enjoy your time with us — learning and sharing all about agave.These rules ensure that the forum remains a welcoming and positive place for everyone.

• Be Respectful and Courteous: Treat all members with respect, even when you disagree. Personal attacks, insults, harassment, or derogatory language directed at any user or group are strictly prohibited.
• No Trolling or Antagonism: Do not post inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages with the primary intent of provoking users, disrupting the discussion, or causing argument.
• Keep it Civil: Avoid engaging in “flame wars.” If a discussion becomes overly heated, moderators may step in, lock the thread, or remove content.
• Privacy Matters: Do not share the private information of other users (such as addresses, phone numbers, or non-public email addresses) without their explicit consent.
• No Illegal Content: Posting links to or promoting illegal content, pirated material, or criminal acts is strictly forbidden

Posting Guidelines & Quality

These rules help keep the forum organized, readable, and focused.

• Stay On Topic: Post your questions and comments in the most appropriate section or thread. If you can’t find a suitable spot, use a designated “General Discussion” area.
• Search Before Posting: Before creating a new thread, use the forum’s search function to see if your question has already been asked and answered. This helps reduce clutter.
• Use Clear Titles: Give your threads descriptive, specific titles that accurately reflect the content of your post. Avoid titles like “HELP!!!” or “Question.”
• One Topic Per Thread: Keep each thread focused on a single topic or question. If you have multiple distinct points, create separate threads for each.
• Proofread Your Posts: While mistakes happen, try to use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Avoid excessive use of capitalization (ALL CAPS IS SHOUTING) or text slang. You have 48 hours to edit or delete a post. After that time, contact a moderator for changes.

Content & Advertising Restrictions

These rules cover prohibited content and commercial activity.

• No Spam or Excessive Self-Promotion: Posting repetitive, unsolicited messages (spam) is prohibited. Unsolicited commercial promotion, affiliate links, or advertising for personal gain is generally not allowed unless explicitly permitted by a moderator in a designated area.
• Appropriate Content Only: Do not post anything that is obscene, vulgar, sexually explicit, graphically violent, or otherwise illegal. This includes text, images, videos, and links.
• Signature Limits: Keep your signature brief and non-disruptive. Signatures may not contain excessive images, large text, or promotional material unless allowed under specific rules.

Moderation & Account Policy

These rules outline the relationship between users and the administrative team.

• Respect Moderator Decisions: The moderators and administrators are here to keep the peace. Their decisions regarding the interpretation of these rules are final. Do not publicly argue with moderators about disciplinary actions; use the private message feature if you have a concern.
• One Account Per User: Each member is allowed to maintain only one active account. Creating or using a “sock puppet” (secondary account to bypass a ban or post anonymously) will result in the immediate and permanent banning of all associated accounts.
• Reporting: If you see a post that violates these rules, do not “self-police.” Instead, use the report function (if available) or contact a moderator privately.
